Sport Injuries

Sprains: A sprain happens when the ligaments that connect bones together are stretched or torn. It often occurs in joints such as the ankle, knee, or wrist. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, and limited mobility.

Strains: Strains refer to the stretching or tearing of muscles or tendons. They commonly occur in the hamstring muscles, quadriceps, or groin. Symptoms include pain, muscle weakness, and difficulty moving the affected area.

Fractures: Fractures are breaks or cracks in bones. They can occur in various parts of the body, including the arms, legs, hands, or feet. Fractures cause localized pain, swelling, deformity, and limited movement.

Dislocations: A dislocation happens when bones in a joint are forced out of their normal positions. Common sites for dislocations include the shoulder, finger, or kneecap. Dislocations result in severe pain, swelling, and an obvious joint deformity.

Concussions: Concussions are traumatic brain injuries caused by a blow or jolt to the head. They are commonly seen in contact sports and can lead to symptoms such as headache, dizziness, confusion, and memory problems.

Overuse injuries: Overuse injuries occur due to repetitive stress on a particular body part over time. They include conditions like tendinitis, stress fractures, or bursitis. These injuries cause pain, inflammation, and limited function.

Shin splints: Shin splints refer to pain along the shinbone (tibia) caused by inflammation of the muscles, tendons, or bone tissue. They are common in activities involving running or jumping.

Sprained ankle: Ankle sprains occur when the ligaments that support the ankle joint are stretched or torn. They commonly result from twisting or rolling the ankle during sports activities.

Tennis elbow: Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is an overuse injury that causes pain and tenderness on the outer part of the elbow. It is often associated with repetitive motions of the wrist and forearm.

Runner's knee: Runner's knee, or patellofemoral pain syndrome, is characterized by pain around or behind the kneecap. It is commonly seen in activities that involve running or jumping.
